Legendary actress Dame Barbara Windsor will bring some winter sparkle to Marylebone when she switches on the Christmas lights.
The spectacular event will raise money for School Home Start, a charity maximising educational opportunities for children.
Up to 10,000 people are expected to attend the big switch on, which will include live music and performances on the main stage by local schoolchildren, professional solo artists and music groups.
Father Christmas will have a magical grotto and will bring along his reindeer to meet families.
Find fairground rides at the north end of Marylebone High Street and Paddington Street, plus a variety of craft and food stalls.
Shops and restaurants will be offering special Christmas promotions and treats, such as mince pies, hot chocolate, mulled wine and sherry.
Local landlord, The Howard de Walden Estate, has organised the annual event. Chief executive, Andrew Hynard, said: "The switching on of the Marylebone Christmas lights has always been a highlight in our festive calendar.
"Kicking off the Christmas celebrations in style, we are looking forward to welcoming locals, Londoners and international visitors to our traditional get-together, which is raising money for a really important charity."
Dame Barbara Windsor, a resident of Marylebone Village for 30 years, will switch on the lights at 6pm. She said: "I am delighted to be part of this wonderful event being held in support of such a worthy cause. The work School Home Support does is vital to the lives of the many children it helps. It’s great to be highlighting such an incredible charity.
"Marylebone Village has always had a unique sense of community, which I am proud to be part of.
"This event will bring everyone together to mark the start of the festive season in style and is sure to be an evening full of sparkle and celebration."
