Businesses from across the Capital will come together today (Friday March 30) for the West London Jobs and Apprenticeships Fair.

Over 40 employers, all with current job vacancies and apprenticeships available, will exhibit at this major event organised by London MP Mary Macleod.

Mary commented, “I want to help people who are looking for work or training and to create real opportunities for their future. The West London Jobs and Apprenticeships Fair will have over a thousand vacancies on offer as well as workshops on improving your CV and how to start you own business.”

Minister for Employment Rt Hon Chris Grayling MP will also attend and is expected to announce further details of the Youth Contract scheme that will launch on Monday 2nd April. The billion pound initiative will provide half a million new opportunities for 18-24 years olds, including apprenticeships and voluntary work experience placements.

The Jobs and Apprenticeships Fair will be one of the largest events of this kind to take place in London and has been organised in partnership with West Thames College, Jobcentre Plus and BAA. The project is supported by a broad range of businesses including Barclays who will run a CV workshop and security company G4S who have been tasked with hiring thousands of security staff for the London 2012 Games.

Mary added, “Friday is about helping young people across West London to find work and give them the skills and confidence to aspire and advance their potential. I would urge anyone who is currently looking for a job or apprenticeship to come and take advantage of this fantastic opportunity.”
