A married couple are following in the footsteps of hit TV show Glee and launching a community choir to get Hammersmith singing.

Professional musicians Sam and Rachel Chaplin hope to inspire people – including those with no previous musical experience – to join them in raising the roof of the newly refurbished St Paul's Church, where they are both members.

The Sing Hammersmith sessions will cover a range of pop, gospel, jazz and classical numbers and will build up to a debut live performance at the Hammersmith church on the evening of April 23.

Rachel said: "This is a choir for everyone in the local community. It's open to people from all musical backgrounds and we've chosen music that is both accessible and challenging. Singing is such a great way of drawing people together and we're excited at the thought of Hammersmith resounding with song."

The first of 10 rehearsals will be held on Thursday, Feburary 3 and will run from 7pm to 9pm.
