I was very interested to read your article about Marjory Warren and I am responding to your question 'Do you remember MarjoryWarren?'. I do!

I was assistant medical secretary to her at the West Middlesex from 1954 to 1955, my first post in the NHS.

Her teaching and example laid the foundation of my happy and fulfilled career in the NHS, spent entirely at West Mid, until retirement in 1988.

Dr Warren showed great dedication and unfailing commitment to her patients.

A strict disciplinarian, but fair, she set a high standard, and inspired the loyalty of her staff, from all departments.

I can still recall our pleasure in her company and support, followed by a brief theatre trip, her thank you gift to her team each Christmas.

I am proud to have known Dr Marjory Warren.

The West Middlesex was fortunate to have had the benefit of her dedicated service, fore-sight and personal qualities. It is a well-deserved and fitting tribute that she has been recognised as one of the most influential people in the history of the NHS.
