Do you recognise this man alleged to have stolen from an injured motorcyclist?

The image is taken from a bystander's head-worn camera shortly after a road traffic collision involving a blue Triumph Bonneville motorcycle and a silver Audi. The police say the incident happened around 5.30pm in Uxbridge Road, Hayes, on Saturday, June 7.

The man pictured presented himself as a 'good Samaritan' after he witnessed the collision which left Craig Stevens with severe leg injuries.

The 51 year-old father lay heavily bleeding when the man rushed over to him, but when police arrived he disappeared. It was only then that Mr Stevens realised £40 had been stolen from his pocket.

The man is described as light-skinned black, of a slim build and in his thirties. He was wearing a baseball cap backwards, tan colour shorts and an orange patterned shirt. He is also described as having a strong West Indian accent.

PC Raj Patara said: "We appeal to anyone who may know the identity of a man who robbed a badly injured victim who was in a state of shock and bleeding heavily. We know that a small crowd gathered at the scene and further witness mobile phone recordings may have been taken. We are keen to trace any new pieces of evidence. Were you there? Did you take a recording?"

Mr Stevens, who served in the Gulf War, broke his arm and cut his leg cut down to the bone. The injury was critical for the leukaemia sufferer due to the blood-thinning medication he takes.

Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service treated him at the scene and he was then taken to St Mary's Hospital in Paddington where he underwent two major operations and a skin graft on his leg.

The circumstances leading up to the collision are being investigated. No arrests have been made.Anyone with information should call the incident room number on 020 8246 1486 or Crimestoppers on 08000 555111.
