A 41-YEAR-OLD man appeared in court over the death of Michael Dye, left, who was allegedly attacked outside Wembley Stadium.

Ian Mytton, of Redditch, Worcestershire, appeared at Redditch Magistrates' Court charged with manslaughter of Michael Dye.

Cardiff City fan Mr Dye, 44, was allegedly assaulted on the concourse by the Gate C turnstiles entrance to the venue at 7.20pm. The incident occurred shortly before the England v Wales soccer Euro 2012 qualifying fixture kicked-off on Tuesday September 6.

Father-of-three Mr Dye suffered a heart attack en route to Northwick Park Hospital in Watford Road, Harrow, and died there at 8.50pm. A post-mortem examination gave the cause of death as blunt trauma to the back of the head.

Six men arrested by the Metropolitan Police at the time inside the Wales' supporters section of the stadium - aged from their late 20s to early 40s – were later released without any further action. Four were from north Wales and two, originally from the south-east Wales, now live in England.

Mytton was arrested on Friday (Sept 9) in Worcestershire on suspicion of murder and was later charged with manslaughter.

The magistrates remanded him in custody and sent his case to Worcester Crown Court where he will next appear on September 20.

A further three men voluntarily attended a West Mercia police station on Sunday and were arrested by Metropolitan Police officers in connection

with the inquiry and have now been bailed to return in early November.
