A YOUNG driver suffered serious injuries following a crash in Harlington yesterday (10) afternoon.

The man, believed to be in his 20s, was whisked to a Central London hospital after the accident, which happened in Bath Road, Harlington. No other vehicles were involved in the smash.

The junction with the A437 High Street was closed off, blocking traffic in both directions and causing major tailbacks.

A London Ambulance Spokesperson said: "We were called just after 4pm to reports of a road traffic collision involving one car.

"We sent an ambulance crew to the scene and treated one patient, a man believed to be in his twenties. He was taken to St Mary's Hospital as a priority, with back and chest injuries."
