A MAN had to be airlifted to hospital after being struck by a car in Stanmore and sustaining mutliple injuries, some to his head.

Police have closed off a section of The Broadway, Stanmore, to investigate the 1.20pm collision.

The victim, who has been taken to The Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel, east London, is believed to have been using a mobility scooter at the time.

A Harrow Police spokeswoman said: "Police were called at 1.17 pm to reports of an incident between a vehicle and a man on Stanmore Broadway.

"A man sustained injuries and was taken by air ambulance to a London Hospital. The incident is being investigated by the Metropolitan Police's Traffic Unit.

"Stanmore Broadway is closed between Marsh Lane and Glebe Road and will remain closed until the traffic unit conclude their investigation."
