A man has died following a fire in an outbuilding on Park Road in Uxbridge during the early hours of Saturday morning.

Fire crews wearing breathing apparatus rescued the man from the brick outbuilding he was believed to be living in at the rear of a shop. 

A spokesman for London Fire Brigade said: "He was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service where he was sadly later pronounced dead.

"The Brigade was called at 00.25am and the fire was under control by 1.21am. Two fire engines, 14 firefighters and officers from Hillingdon fire station attended the scene. The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental at this stage."
