A BRUTAL machine gun attack at a tower block has left one man dead and another seriously ill in hospital.

Dean Tulley, 37, pictured left, died after being hit by a burst of bullets in a Brentford flat last Thursday evening.

A second victim, an unidentified man also in his 30s, is fighting for his life in hospital.

Police found the carnage when they arrived at Fraser House, in Green Dragon Lane, just before 9.30pm.

The shooting, which took place in a first-floor flat on the Haverfield Estate, has shocked the local community.

Fraser House was cordoned off on Friday as forensic officers gathered evidence.

Many people are convinced that drug gangs are behind the horrific attack but police insist they are keeping an open mind about motive.

Resident Mrs Larsharie, of Pegasus Court in Green Dragon Lane, said: "This is the first time something as bad as this has happened. I know there have been problems with drugs in the area but in the eight years I've lived here nothing like this has gone on. It scares me to think about it."

Another resident, Mark Garraghan, of Fraser House, added: "I wouldn't be at all surprised if it turned out to be drugs. There seems to be an awful lot of drug dealing going on.

"There's a particular problem with the lower floors of Fraser House because the security at the block is pretty poor and doesn't seem to discourage dealers from loitering in the area."

Police confirmed that there had been a number of people at the address at the time of the shooting and urged any witnesses to come forward.

Supt Simon Phipps said: "This is a shocking and isolated incident in Hounslow borough.

"While the investigating team is progressing the case we have been working closely with the local authority and our partner agencies to try to reassure the community."
