A 27-YEAR-OLD man from Northolt has been charged with killing a woman who was pulled from the Grand Union Canal on Christmas Day.
Manzar Juma, of Hexham Gardens, is accused of murdering of 23 year-old Ruby Love, from Harrow, who was spotted floating in the canal in Bankside, Southall - close to the Ealing border with Hayes - by a passer-by at 11.40am on Christmas Day.
Mr Juma was brought from prison and appeared before Brent Magistrates last Friday morning.
Wearing a grey long-sleeved top and white trousers, with cropped dark hair and a short beard, he was remanded back into custody.
There will be a bail hearing at the Old Bailey on January 3 and a plea and case management hearing on March 23.
The wording of the Crown's single charge does not specify where Juma is alleged to have killed her, citing only the attack is alleged to have taken place within the jurisdiction of the Central Criminal Court, better known as the Old Bailey.
A post-mortem examination held on Monday at Uxbridge Mortuary could not establish a formal cause of death of Ms Love and the police await the results of further tests.
