PEOPLE lost pounds, and raised some too.

Each week, Pounds of Pounds participants were weighed and given a nutritional or exercise challenge to help spur them on.

The winners were those who lost the most weight and those who raised the most money.

The two female winners were Ellis Lance and Alison Whittall who received a free makeover, haircut and blow dry from HOB Salons in Hatch End.

Ellis, a receptionist at Mount Vernon Hospital Cancer Centre, received the makeover on her birthday after raising £550, the most money of all the ladies.

Ellis’s friend Bethany passed away at the hospice aged 21 so she wanted to keep her memory alive as well as losing some weight.

Alison Whittall, headteacher at Hyde Heath Infant School in Amersham lost 16lbs, the most weight of all the ladies.

Her father was given respite care at Michael Sobell Hospice and she also lost two close friends who passed away at the hospice.

Alison has also been involved in raising lots of money for the hospice at several of their events.

Hairdresser Natasha Goss and Rush Shah gave up their free time to give the haircuts.

Chloe Rumball, salon manager from HOB Hatch End said “We often take part in charity fundraisers by donating raffle prizes or holding our own raffles and cake sales but this was a really nice way to give back to those who have dedicated their time to raise money and with their weight loss complete the journey to making them look and feel fabulous, whilst all being for a great cause.”

Eddie O’Sullivan a trustee at MSH lost the most weight within the group overall dropping 22lbs, and has raised nearly £2,000, however Eddie has kindly offered the makeover to the two winning ladies in the group.

The whole event raised over £3,000. Next year the hospice hopes to make it an even bigger event and attract a larger number of participants.
