A MUM whose 22-year-old son was stabbed in the back in Greenford is calling on the authorities to make the streets safer.

Her son was attacked by two men in Beechwood Avenue, just before 7am on Sunday December 18.

The unnamed victim was struck over the head by a heavy object before the thugs stabbed him in the neck. Police said the injuries were not life threatening.

But the violent incident has left the family, who wish to remain anonymous, shaken and feeling unsafe in the neighbourhood where they have lived for more than 10 years.

The victim's mother, who witnessed the attack, said: "As a resident in this country, we need protection from the MP or the council, there should be CCTV to protect us.

"I'm having a nervous breakdown. It's been five days since it happened but I can't go outside my house.

"I felt safe before but now it's frightening. How can anybody live with this feeling?"

A police spokesman said it was 'too early' in the investigation to determine if it was gang related. No arrests have been made.

Anyone who witnessed the event is asked to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
