THE next phase in major plans to extend Westfield shopping centre has been approved.
The 1.6million sq ft Shepherd’s Bush mall was given planning consent last week to create two new floors of office space for online luxury retailer Net-A-Porter’s global headquarters, which has been based at the Wood Lane site since 2009.
Hammersmith and Fulham Council approved plans in May to build a new children’s education and entertainment world called KidZania above the Marks & Spencer unit.
The shopping centre already has outline permission to create a further 500,000 sq ft of retail space and 1,500 new homes with leisure facilities to the north of the site in Aerial Way.
Westfield is currently drawing up detailed plans which would need further consent, but construction could start next year and be completed over 20 years.
