MY DARLING husband, Arthur Fiber, passed away after a courageous and inspirational fight against stomach cancer on Boxing Day.

As his condition became critical, our GP, Dr Ian Goodman of the Steven Shackman practice, asked if we would like palliative care in hospital or at home.

We opted for home care, and within two hours the Hospital At Home team was with us, equipment, medication and aids were delivered and his wonderful Macmillan nurse and community nurses were also there to give advice, support and help.

After a few days, the care was directed through social services. The staff of Home Instead Senior Care gave the most attentive, loving care, backed up by community nurses, night cover by nurses from the Harlington Hospice @ Home service and Marie Curie.

With care also from Michael Sobell Hospice and regular contact and visits by our GP, no one could have had better care - and all by the magnificent NHS.
