Over 100 people were evacuated from the Sloane Square Hotel after flames took hold of the kitchen.

The fire on Saturday (November 8) morning in the Chelsea hotel’s restaurant kitchen meant around 130 people were evacuated from the building before firefighters arrived.

Luckily there were no injuries but part of the kitchen was damaged by the blaze.

A spokesman from London Fire Brigade, said: “The Brigade was called at 11.36am and the fire was under control by 1.49pm. Four fire engines and around 20 firefighters from Soho, Lambeth and Wimbledon fire stations were at the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.”

Made in Chelsea’s Spencer Matthews happened to be in Sloane Square at the time and tweeted a picture of firefighters in a cherry picker outside the four star hotel which also has popular French restaurant, Cote Brasserie on the ground floor.

On Sunday a flat in St George's Square was damaged by a stray firework, and today (Monday) firefighters were called into action again after a blaze took hold of e-cigarette shop in Hammersmith.
