AN innovative shop, which has been open for five months, is giving budding crafts people a commercial break.

Love Handmade in Northfield Avenue, West Ealing is run by Fiona Mitchell and Trevor Halliday who give people a chance to sell their homemade wares for a small commission.

The couple have been nominated in the business category by one of their clients, Yasmin Khan, who said: “They have worked tirelessly and for very little profit to enable arts and crafts people to sell their wares in her new shop.

“Fiona truly loves everyone and helps no end and has also baked tons of stuff for the Wish Foundation.”

The pair, who used to run a similar crafts market at the Fox Inn, Hanwell, decided to branch out just before last Christmas because of lack of space.

Fiona said: “We thought if we could find somewhere bigger we could serve more people in the community.

“We loved what we were doing at the Fox Inn but needed a proper outlet.”

Trevor, who also renovates old furniture, said: “We try to stock different work and have people coming in at least twice a week asking if we can stock their goods. At the moment we have items from about 60 people and about 30 on the waiting list. Local people are supporting local crafts people, which is great.”

The couple also run monthly classes on techniques.
