Love is obviously in the air at West Middlesex Hospital, if patients' most-requested songs are anything to go by.

The Lady in Red, Chris de Burgh's paean to his wife, topped the charts at Radio West Middlesex last year, knocking Tina Turner's (Simply) The Best from its perch.

It was closely followed by I Will Always Love You, by Whitney Houston and Dolly Parton, in the Isleworth hospital's annual hit parade, published today.

James Arthur's Impossible, another bittersweet song about lost love, was among the new entries in the top 10 for 2013.

Elvis Presley retained his crown as the most requested artist on the volunteer-run radio station, fighting off competition from artists as diverse as Rihanna and Mozart.

During 2013, volunteers at Radio West Mid, which runs around the clock, collected and played nearly 800 requests for the hospital's patients.
