AFTER nearly a decade of being in the pipeline, a new health centre was finally opened in Southall.

The Jubilee Gardens Health Centre was officially opened by Ealing Southall MP Virendra Sharma and Dil Mohan Bhasin, of the Southall Health Improvement Project (SHIP), at a launch ceremony last Friday.

After eight years of planning and building, a plaque was unveiled, before guests were given a tour of the new site.

The centre, in Jubilee Gardens, will include a chiropodist, nurses, doctors and an audiology unit.

Mr Bhasin said: "We're very pleased the centre is now open. "There are some surgeries in Southall that are not fit for purpose and are located in old houses, but Jubilee Gardens has the most modern facilities for patients and the public. The health centre was based in the library, but now is located in a building on the ground, first and second floors and adjoining a beautiful park, which is very pleasing.

"This is a quality health centre which will bring quality facilities for the people of Southall."
