TEENAGERS in a village will finally have their own space to enjoy activities.

This week, it was confirmed a long-awaited youth centre project will go ahead in Harefield.

“It’s fantastic news for Harefield,” said Councillor Henry Higgins, who represents the village on Hillingdon Council.

“There’s nothing for the kids at the moment and this has always been on my wishlist for the village.

“We’ve got to give them something to do.”

Mr Higgins admitted anti-social behaviour problems in the village have not been helped by the fact there has been nothing for young people to occupy their time.

“At least now we can offer them something to do, then if they do still continue to break the law we can throw the book at them,” he added.

Mr Higgins said he hoped it would stop teenagers congregating on the village green.

The site for the building and its size is yet to be decided and Hillingdon Council has not yet given a timescale for the project.
