There is no reason to be lonely on Christmas Day, thanks to a slap up community lunch being served for its 24th year.

The free meal of turkey and all the trimmings, or vegetarian option, is organised by former councillor David Routledge, ably assisted by an army of volunteers, and is intended for anyone who would otherwise be spending the day alone.

Guests can sign up to be collected by car or make their own way to Christ Church in Redford Way, Uxbridge, but in either case must call Mr Routledge on 01895 272281 to register.

The popular event starts at noon, then after lunch there is carol singing and bingo, then tea, biscuits and Christmas cake before the finish at 5pm.

If you know of anyone who might like to attend the lunch, please draw this story to their attention.
