TALENTED sporting youngsters who competed in the London Youth Games achieved huge success by securing 7 th place.
Hillingdon remained the top West London borough by achieving 7 th place out of all the 33 boroughs that took part in the Games on July 4 and 5 at Crystal Palace National Sports Centre.
All the hard work of competitors and team managers helped the Hillingdon team achieve 10 top five placings.
These were 1 st in sailing and boys swimming, 2 nd in angling, trampolining and cycling, 3 rd in girls swimming and 5 th in boys floor and vault gymnastics, badminton, netball and girls athletics
Hillingdon also had some great individual achievements including gold in the boys 800 metres - Jowed Saissi, gold in the individual angling – Gavin Miller, gold in Aquathlon (Tri-star 3) – Sky Draper, gold in disability athletics - Rio Alana-Terry, silver in the girls high jump – Demi Barrance, silver in girls disability swimming – Katie Forrester, bronze in trampolining – George Palmer and bronze in girls disability swimming – Megan Treherne.
Over 800 young people from Hillingdon were involved in the event through trials, training sessions and actually competing in qualifying rounds and the finals.
The Balfour Beatty London Youth Games is the largest youth sports event in the UK for young people aged seven to 17 living or going to school in the capital.
