A STRING of arrests were made in Harrow and Brent as part of a London-wide operation.
Officers from the two boroughs, assisted by specialist forces, targeted people wanted for drug and theft offences as well as licencing and insurance breaches.
A chase took place through Harrow town centre as officers pursued a suspect and apprehended him after finding a drugs and a bag for hiding stolen items.
In Harrow 18 were arrested in total.
In Brent on Wednesday February 27 officers working on Operation Big Wing arrested 25 people.
Seven search warrants were executed and five vehicles were seized for not having insurance and one licenced premises was closed and four were arrested for immigration offences.
Officers across London carried out arrests, search warrants, licensing enforcement, Automatic Number Plate Recognition operations, high visibility patrols and a range of other activity in what will be the widest ranging Big Wing operation to date.
Chief Superintendent Simon Letchford said: "Gang violence, drugs, and knife crime are serious, high harm crimes that can sadly have a devastating and lasting effect on local communities; however, there are also many other issues which might be seen as 'lower level' offences, such as anti-social behaviour or uninsured drivers, that we know can and do blight the daily lives of too many people. Today's operation is about showing Londoners that we have listened to their concerns and we are committed to taking robust preventative and disruptive action to stop this criminal activity and make their communities safer. It's also about warning those intent on breaking the law and engaging in criminal activity that we will be doing everything we can to stop them, and wherever possible we will be putting them before the courts."
