A RUISLIP woman has vowed to make it to the finish line in memory of those who died and were injured in the Boston Marathon.

Hannah Luckett already had a moving reason for running her first London Marathon - it was in memory of her best friend, who died of meningitis aged just 17.

Former Northwood School pupil Hannah 22, lost her friend, Lauren Sheehan, in 2008, and has been fundraising in her memory ever since.

And this Sunday she will not only have Lauren in her mind, but those who were impacted by the explosions on Monday.

She said: “The Boston Marathon blasts have made me more determined to make it to the finish line in light of those that sadly couldn’t.”

“It hasn’t put me off taking part.”

Through sponsored activities Hannah has raised £11,000 for the Meningitis Trust. For the marathon she has been sponsored for an impressive £3,521 – smashing her £2,500 target.

“I decided to run the marathon as a personal challenge and to raise money for the fantastic cause, but also to keep my friend’s memory alive,” said Hannah, who works at Lindt in Feltham.

She has honoured her friend by printing the message ‘Because Lauren can’t, but I still can’ on her running shirt for Sunday.
