A MUM of three is running the marathon for a cause close to her heart, and just days before her 40th birthday.

Rachel Gribben, from Sherwood Avenue, Ruislip, is raising money for the Miscarriage Association, after losing a baby at 12 weeks in 2010.

“I was quite surprised at how much it affected me,” said Mrs Gribben, who has been training since Christmas for the 26-mile run.

“I always thought of myself as a strong person, but it really knocked me back.”

Mother to twin boys Isaac and Luke, six, and one-year-old Oscar, Mrs Gribben has already passed her target of £1,650, but is hoping to raise even more for the charity in the last few days.

“I wanted to raise awareness as well as the money because they are a really small charity and a lot of their funding comes from charity events, so it is a big deal for them to get fundraising,” she added.

The Miscarriage Association provides information and support for parents who have lost a baby, as well as other family members and friends.
