WE ARE completely against the 324 proposed bus route for a number of reasons.

Firstly, there is a Montessori school at the top of Old Church Lane which, with buses going past at drop-off and collection times, would be much too hazardous and dangerous for the children and their parents, some with buggies.

The road is already narrowed by a full line of parked cars at these times anyway and having buses queuing with ordinary traffic would make the whole problem much worse.

Old Church Lane is not a main road to safely accommodate a bus route.

Many children walk to school down Old Church Lane and Abercorn Road. Their journeys would become much more dangerous trying to cross the road if buses were to go down here, as their visibility would be much reduced and considered unsafe.

Stanburn School is another school at the end of Abercorn Road, where there are also many, many schoolchildren around and parents trying to drop off and collect each day.

Buses would cause major disruption to the flow of traffic at this already narrow road, as well as again impair the safety and visibility for the children.

There is a blind bend in Old Church Lane (almost opposite Landsdowne Road) and is already difficult trying to come out of driveways here.

Attempting this when there may be a bus coming round this bend would be even more dangerous for residents.

Old Church Lane and Abercorn Road is also used by many schoolchildren walking to and from Whitchurch Lane School, whose safety would also be affected if there were buses on these roads.

Buses would cause a lot of extra dust, noise and dangerous driving by other vehicles trying to pass by when they are stopped at a bus stop.

In what was once a country lane, this route has become busy enough already without driving buses down there too.

There are lots of older people with dogs, or shopping who use this route. Buses would make their walks much more hazardous, especially for the elderly.

The 324 bus route would be much better to be routed left into Marsh Lane from London Road, as these are already main roads, used to large vehicles, and Marsh Lane joins up a little further down to Honeypot Lane anyway, which is the planned main route proposed.

Please don't let this bus route go down Old Church Lane, Abercorn Road, St. Andrews Drive and Culver Grove - there are too many pedestrians, mainly schoolchildren, whose lives would be put in danger. It's not worth it.
