The Government has finally woken up to the fierce opposition to a third runway at Heathrow.

But now they are trying to slip their plans through with the sweetener of an international high-speed rail hub at the airport.

They continue to ignore hundreds of thousands of local residents and their reasons for opposing the third runway: the enormous increase in

noise and air pollution that would result. The idea that high-speed rail will mitigate a third runway is nonsense.

I challenge the Government to listen to Londoners and scrap their Heathrow expansion plans.
