I AM replying to the letter in last week's Gazette from Ann Stringer regarding the funding for schools.

I may not blame the present Labour council for the situation regarding funding of improvements to schools, but I certainly blame the last Labour government for the lack of funds.

It seems Ms Stringer has overlooked the fact that we are in dire straits as a nation financially and I absolutely do blame the last Labour government for that!

I see Stephen Pound is reiterating the message, 'don't blame us'. Well, who else is there to blame? His colleagues, Milliband, Balls and Burnham et al, have at least seen the light and have apologised for their 'mistakes' in government.

What a pity Mr Pound finds it impossible to do the same.
