The Gazette poll on whether the Perivale councillor (Edward Rennie) who claimed allowances for attending meetings during a five-month period when he was abroad should really ask why he thought he had the right to do so and why no-one stopped him from abusing public money

Why wasn’t a stop put on his allowances? Why were there no checks and balances in the system to stop it? His absence must have been noticed, so who failed to stop it? How can there be any trust in such people to manage our local services with propriety and integrity in the light of this?
