EALING adults are being offered a chance to learn new skills in 2011, such as children's first aid, surfing the internet, and even lip reading.

The borough council's Adult Learning Service, which was recently rated ‘Good’ by OFSTED inspectors, is encouraging residents to make a new year's resolution to learn a new subject or skill from January.

Courses will be run from schools and community centres across the borough for a fee, and there will be half price concessions for learners on means testing benefits such as income support and pension credit.

As well as tailored courses such as Family Finance and Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Sector (PTLLS), there are also courses designed for those interested in pursuing a specific career: Pathway to Childcare, Pathway to Catering and Pathway to Music Technology.
