MORE than 10,000 bootleg DVDs, including porn and Bollywood titles, were seized in a recent bust in Southall.

The joint operation between Ealing Council and the Metropolitan Police took place at a music and DVD stall in Southall Broadway.

The broadway is a notorious hotspot for illegally copied films. The titles seized in the raid are thought to have a street value of over £50,000. The pornographic films included titles such as 'Doghouse' and 'A Naughty Doll' while the Bollywood titles featured smash hits like 'Aisha' and 'It's A Wonderful Afterlife'.

Councillor Ranjit Deer, cabinet member for safer communities at Ealing Council said: "The pornography is very concerning because it contains offensive images. We will not tolerate anyone selling counterfeit products and will continue to take enforcement action against people caught breaking the law.

“The sale of counterfeit DVDs affects the livelihoods of legitimate businesses and these profiteering traders are ruining the wonderful shopping experience Southall has to offer."

Trading Standards officers are continuing their investigation. All the DVDs confiscated will be destroyed.
