THE owner of land occupied by Grow Heathrow squatters briefly visited the site.

Imran Malik was bombarded with requests from people pleading for him to take a letter from Hayes and Harlington Labour MP John McDonnell requesting he to meet the politician and Grow Heathrow squatters to speak about the possibilities of buying or renting the land.

Mr Malik refused to speak to any of the protesters or press.

“It was the first time we saw him on site,” Mr McDonnell told getwestlondon.co.uk

“We’ve been trying to to negotiate with him for years and he’s never come back to us.

“I’ve asked him to contact me to see whether he’d be willing to meet us to talk about whether he will rent the site to us or sell the site.

“I said: ‘Please take the letter’,” he said.

“At least he took it, so that’s a move forward.”

Mr McDonnell said they hope to build a Community Land Trust to fund rental or purchasing of the land.

Mr Malik was greeted by the sight of at least two squatters chained to the gates of the former nursery in Vineries Close.
