Chicken Cottage in Ladbroke Grove, west London, has had its late licence revoked by Kensington and Chelsea Council after it was revealed as a base for the criminal Chicken Cottage Crew gang.

The self-styled Chicken Cottage Crew stole, caused criminal damage and intimidated people from their headquarters at the takeaway in Ladbroke Grove, unopposed by staff and managers who have now lost the right to sell food after 11pm.

Between November 2007 and November 2008 the gang were involved in 71 incidents of crime and public disorder compared to a pizza place a few doors down where only 25 instances of antisocial behaviour were reported.

Councillor Mrs Priscilla Frazer, Chair of Kensington and Chelsea Council’s Licensing Committee, said: "We take antisocial behaviour very seriously in the Royal Borough and will do everything in our power to combat it.

“This case sends a clear message to other late night establishments that they can’t sit back and let their premises become a magnet for crime and disorder.”

The Premises Licence Holder has until 16 February 2009 to appeal to the magistrates’ court.
