A comic actor described as doing the best Tony Blair impersonation in Britain is among the Labour candidates for next month's local elections in Hounslow.

Alan Mitchell, who describes himself on his website as a superb mimic, has been chosen to represent the party in his home ward of Feltham West, where he will stand alongside husband-and-wife duo David and Elizabeth Hughes.

His party bio describes him as a professional actor and teacher, who delivers the 'Dramatic Edge' theatre programme at a local school, but his personal website reveals many other talents.

His CV quotes comedian Lee Mack as having called him 'The best Tony Blair in Britain, full stop', suggesting he is even more convincing than the former PM himself, and describes him as a highly skilled footballer and a talented percussionist and conductor.

It also reveals he worked at Labour's Millbank HQ for three years, which is possibly where he perfected his Tony Blair impression.

His TV work has included roles ranging from 'Beach Pervert' on the BBC 3 show Titty Bang Bang to 'Angry Boss' in a Leerdammer cheese commercial.

Mr Mitchell, of  Bedfont Lane, is one of a host of new faces in the list of Labour candidates, with several long-serving councillors not standing at the upcoming elections for various reasons.
