Yet again our local councillors have allowed themselves to be fooled by a planning application.
The local ward councillors have no concept of the problems that they are creating in permitting this gross overdevelopment of the Dickens Yard site.
The retail analysis is flawed - a fact confirmed in private by several West End surveyors. If Ealing could not support so called 'up-market' shops in the good times, there is little chance in these challenging times that they can fill even larger areas of shopping space with quality retailers, especially now that Westfield is open.
What should be a concern to the electorate is that the local councillors refused to get involved in the issue, leaving the decision making process to councillors representing wards that will be unaffected by the demise of our town centre.
