A knife-wielding bank robber raided Barclays bank in Hounslow High Street today, making off with an unknown amount of cash.

The man demanded cash from a terrified cashier this morning and made off on foot with his loot.

A police spokeswoman said officers were called at approximately 11.10am to reports of a robbery.

"We understand a lone male suspect entered the bank and demanded money from a cashier whilist holding a knife. The man stole a quantity of cash and made off on foot," she said. "Enquiries are ongoing to establish his whereabouts and officers are at the scene now. No one was injured and no weapon has been recovered."

She added that the robbery was being investigated by the Met's Flying Squad and no arrests had been made.
