HAM House will again light up the big screen as it provides the backdrop to a new film set for release in 2010.

Local girl Keira Knightly and fellow Hollywood stars Carey Mulligan and Andrew Garfield have spent the past two weeks filming at the National Trust house and gardens for a new adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro's novel Never Let Me Go.

The 400-year-old house plays the part of a slightly run-down boarding school, which presented a challenge to head gardener Sandra King, who had to make the normally pristine gardens appear neglected.

The house was recently seen in The Young Victoria, playing the part of Kensington Palace.

"The handsome exterior appearance, lavish interiors, beautiful surroundings and proximity to central London are a winning combination for many film producers," said property manager Gary Calland.

"Appearing on film helps to put Ham on the map, and the location fees make a substantial contribution to our much-needed conservation work."
