Naughty nights could soon heat-up a long, cold winter in West Kensington - but residents have mixed feelings about the Passion Nights lap dancing club.

The company plans to set up a lap dancing club in the former Fox Pub in North End Crescent - bringing "new job opportunities" to the area. But outraged residents are rallying together against the plan, now lodged with Hammersmith and Fulham Council.

Anna Atkinson, 64, of Matheson Road, West Kensington, said: "The only issue is that there might be undesirables in the neighbourhood. If it was across the road from me, I wouldn't be too pleased about it. I'm not a fuddy duddy. I'm not for it or against it. I might apply for a job there!"

Dane Pierre (pictured), 24, father of  Teja, aged three, said: "It's the first time I've heard of it. There are other places that I think would be more appropriate. There are schools and nurseries close by and I don't see the logic to be honest. This is a local, residential area, why do we need it?"

Geoffrey Taylor, 79, of Edith Road, West Kensington, said: "Look, let's face it, what we want is housing. The pubs are having a rough time, not getting any custom. You don't need a big club here of any sort. Clubs have all sorts coming into them, there will be bloody fights out the front.

Christine Liddell, 34, has a three-year-old son called Terry and lives in Pelham House, Mornington Avenue, West Kensington. She said: "I would prefer if it was a pub. There are plenty of other things it could be made into. Anything other than this."

Mum Tia Comel, 44, has an eight-year-old child and lives in North End Crescent, West Kensington. She said: "That's disgusting. They told us they would turn it into luxury flats."

A spokeswoman for Passion Nights said: "The Kensington Suite and Flute Champagne bar will provide a high end luxury venue for residents and visitors to the Kensington area. A £2 million budget has been invested in the project to ensure the venues are of the very highest standard.

"The launch is set to enhance the area aesthetically and create many new job opportunities at this economically challenging time. The management is committed to ensuring that the greatest care is taken to prevent any inconvenience to residents.  The Kensington Suite will open at 7pm each evening therefore having no impact whatsoever on local schools in the area."
