I AM writing to the Gazette as one of more than nine million pensioners, or 'senior citizens'.

I would like to draw your readers' attention to the election promise made by our Prime Minister,Mr Brown, in 1995 that he would do away with means testing and eliminate pension poverty.

Why has this promise not been turned into reality after all the years of the Government being in office?

A copy of this letter will be sent to Mr Brown, and all and any national newspapers that may publish it.

The last occasion I wrote to the PM all I received back was an ambiguous reply.

Incidentally, the money is there, in the National Insurance funds of about £38billion and increasing every year.

RC OWEN,

Judge Heath Lane, Hayes
