MINI motorbike users who ride their machines illegally across open land have been warned their steeds will be seized.

It is illegal under the Road Traffic Act to ride a motorcycle in open space, such as parks, footpaths or bridle ways.

The bike can be seized by police and crushed and the rider can receive a fine of up to £1,000.

Riding is also prohibited on private land, such as industrial estates or farms without written permission from the land owner.
