ENTRY is now open for two popular annual events organised to raise cash for a hospice in Northwood.

Michael Sobell House hospice (MSH), based at Mount Vernon Hospital, is inviting keen cyclists to register for On Yer Bike For Care, on Sunday, May 15.

Participants can choose from a 12-mile, 24-mile or gruelling 40-mile ride, snaking through beautiful countryside with stunning scenic views.

The routes, which are all marshalled and include water stops, will start and finish at MSH.

Advance entry costs £10 (£5 for children under 16, £20 for a family of four). It is also possible to enter on the day. Registration opens at 7.30am and closes at 9am. The ride begins at 8am. Participants who enter in advance will receive a sponsorship form, riding number and copy of their chosen route.

Meanwhile, more than 1,000 women are expected to pound the streets as part of MSH's second Ladies in the Night Walk, on Friday, June 3.

The walk will bring together ladies of all abilities, ages and backgrounds. It starts and finishes at MSH and will take place on well-lit roads, with marshalls and signs in place to guide the way.

Entrants will receive a walker pack complete with a t-shirt, sponsorship form, and information booklet.

There will also be a raffle on the night with signed X-Factor merchandise, two British Airways return tickets to Europe, and beauty products.

Marshalls are also needed for this event to walk alongside the ladies and help on the registration desks.

All proceeds from both events will go to MSH, which needs to raise £1.2million every year to maintain its specialist palliative care services.
