X-FACTOR star Katie Waissel from Harefield again showed her resilience on Sunday by surviving a second sing-off – this time in a dreaded 'deadlock'.

It was another plucky performance from the 24-year-old, who broke down in tears as the result was read out.

She had sung Etta James's 'Trust In Me', appealing to the judges with the poignant lyrics: "Have the faith that I have in you. Oh and love will see us through, if only you trust in me."

Cheryl Cole and Danii Minogue backed her, but Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh preferred girl band Belle Amie. Only the phone vote saved Katie from elimination.

But prior to her dramatic weekend, the singer told the Gazette she was determined to enjoy herself and pursue a 'dream' career in pop music.

"I am having an amazing time and really just enjoying myself, I have wonderful people around me," she said. "I haven't experienced anything like this before in my whole life, but it has taught me to laugh at myself and rise above everything. I am so happy to be here."
