Closed for business: Jumbo's newsagents

A newsagent in Kilburn has been shut down due to mice infestation. 

Jumbo Newsagents, in Kilburn High Road, was closed down as part of a routine inspection by Brent Council.  

A Hygiene Emergency Prohibition Notice was issued after the inspection, with a court ordering the newsagent to pay £1,195.

Councillor George Crane (Labour), lead member for the environment at Brent Council, said "It's crucial that businesses in Brent which sell food and drink don't pose an imminent risk to health.

"Residents should contact us if they see that an establishment is unhygienic.

"Our food safety teams carry out regular routine inspections but we also rely on residents to help us on these matters."
