ONE thousand people may take part in a fun fitness event in aid of an charity that helped an employee of the leisure centre at which it is being held.
Harrow Leisure Centre in Christchurch Avenue, Wealdstone, will host a "charity exercise extravaganza" for Anthony Nolan on Sunday.
The event has been organised by Everyone Active - which runs the complex on behalf of owner Harrow Council - in support of Chris Spencer, a member of staff who underwent a bone marrow transplant through the trust after being diagnosed with leukaemia last year.
Leisure centre members and non-members alike can join a variety of group exercise classes including aerobics, Bollywood dancing, Bodyattack, Bodycombat and Fitsteps, a new dance fitness class developed by Strictly Come Dancing stars.
It is open to over-16s and will take place between 10am and noon.
The two-hour fitness fest costs £7 per person and while participants may turn up on the day, advanced booking is advised.
Mark Leahy, Everyone Active contract manager, said: "This is going to be a great event.
"We are inviting members of the community to come along, either on their own or with their family and friends, to enjoy a fantastic workout together while raising much-needed funds for this very worthwhile charity."
The event aims to promote awareness of the Anthony Nolan charity, particularly among ethnic minority communities.
Anthony Nolan works in the areas of leukaemia and stem cell transplantation and maintains a bone marrow donor registry.
