THE new plans for the proposed high rise tower block development by Candy and Candy and Qatari Diar, have just been lodged again at Westminster City Council (WCC).

The Chelsea Barracks Action Group, who have been working tirelessly to raise objections to this appalling development, have managed to get an extension from WCC for objection letters until June 1, 2009.

The tower blocks are still too high, with some up to 37 metres tall.

Current residents will lose light, amenity and privacy, in some cases up to 60 per cent of their daylight.

Nobody is listening to the residents and it is vitally important that we deluge WCC council with letters to make the point that the development is too high, too dense and inappropriate architecture for the surrounding conservation area.

The glass and steel buildings are not sustainable, they are not ecological for the future and will use too much power to heat and cool. There are also not enough parking spaces and, most importantly for Kensington and Chelsea residents, there will be traffic chaos.

There are no new roads in this development, so the Pimlico Road and Chelsea Bridge Road will have to absorb the estimated 2,400 new residents their cars, plus the delivery and service vans - think about it!!

It will be like living with a permanent Chelsea Flower Show otherwise.

K&C residents can put pressure on their council to lobby Westminster Council as it will have a huge knock-on effect on the residents of their borough.
