MP Steve Pound and veteran journalist John Sergeant joined forces to highlight the annual Meadow House Hospice garden party which raised £1,600.

Mr Sergeant, Ealing resident and renowned Strictly dancer offically opened the garden party at the hospice, of which he is patron, and Mr Pound gave his usual sterling performance when he launched the raffle on Saturday. (9)

More than 300 people turned up to the popular event at the hospice, based in the grounds of Ealing Hospital, Uxbridge Road, Southal. As well as a chance to look around visitors could also buy goods from the various stallholders.

Lynne May, voluntary services manager, said: "It went really well and we were really lucky with the weather. John Sergeant didn't dance, but he spent a long time here speaking to visitors and stallholders. Both he and Mr Pound were great to give up their time because it helps to promote the hospice.

"We would like to thank all our many volunteers who give up their time and work so hard and also to thank our founder Maria Brennan who we were delighted to see."
