THE residents of Barrow Point Avenue would like to thank the Observer for the excellent feature on the 'Barrow Point Avenue Jungle'.

However, we would like to correct the comments made by Harrow Council's spokeswoman, who stated that following their inspection of the site 'it was found that four verges had inadvertently been left uncut'.

The correct facts are that the grass verges have been cut - once - early in the year.

The council found only four verges uncut because community minded neighbours had done the job for them. Curiously the council 'tidied' the road two days before the verges were cut.

There is now long cut grass and grass seed strewn all over the pavements and verges waiting for the wind to blow them into our gardens. The same applies to the grass areas around the entrance to the Marks & Spencer car park in Love Lane.

The council may well have repaired some of the pavements, but they are still treacherously uneven.

I have just heard that yet another elderly resident has tripped and fallen in Barrow Point Avenue in the last few days.

I will be delighted to accompany a member of the council down the road to discuss our concerns.
