A PAIR of newlyweds have urged fellow lovebirds to make sure their valuables are secure after burglars stole gold jewellery worth an estimated £30,000 while they were tying the knot.

Ali Iqbal and Nisa Abedi were celebrating their big day in Harrow last Saturday evening when thieves looted his parents' house in Francis Road, Hounslow West.

Mr Iqbal, a 30-year-old drug and alcohol therapist, believes the culprits knew about the wedding and deliberately struck when no one would be at home.

He has warned other couples to take no chances, and advises them to store any valuables in a safe or bank and to ensure someone they trust looks after their home on a wedding day.He also advised people to be careful who they send invitations to, in case they get into the wrong hands.

Mr Iqbal and his new wife live in Avonwick Road, Hounslow, but had been staying at his parents' home before the big day.

As well as wedding presents, the stolen goods, which were taken between 7.30pm on the Saturday and 1am the next morning, included jewellery belonging to visiting relatives.

"I want to warn other couples to be on their guard so they don't suffer the same fate," said Mr Iqbal.
