A Marylebone family touched by tragedy is celebrating after one of its youngest members won a competition.

Jessica Georgeois, five, of Chester House, in New Cavendish Street, drew a picture of her own house to win a contest, organised by Westminster Council's housing arm CityWest Homes, to design a reusable bag.

The award was even more special due to a family bereavement last year.

Jessica's mum Magda Georgeois said she took a photo of their house which Jessica then copied.

She said: "Last year, my husband died on the same day as her birthday, so this is really good news for us.

"We were so happy when we heard she won, I think I might have been even happier than her. Jessica loves drawing, she has so many books filled with pictures she has drawn."

As her prize, Jessica's design was printed on the side of 1,000 cotton bags, which will soon be available in CityWest estate offices across Westminster.

She was presented with several of the bags to give to friends and family, a certificate and a box filled with art materials by the chief executive of CityWest Homes Brian Johnson.
