A teenager from Hillingdon has been chosen to front national ad campaigns for high street sportswear retailer, JD Sports.

Jawaad Ansari, 17, is one of 15 'Face of JD' winners – eight boys and seven girls – who will be appearing on billboards and in-store posters modelling their clothes for the next year.

JD Sports held modelling casting days in London, Birmingham, Glasgow, Manchester and Liverpool, and hundreds applied.

The Swakeleys School student has already done one photo-shoot, and a second one abroad this summer is on the cards.

Jawaad said it was a "dream come true."

"When I got the call a few months ago, I was tearful. A few people have put me down and said I couldn't do it, so I was really happy when I got it.

"I have seen so many posters of me. There's one in the Uxbridge store [in inutu Uxbridge shopping centre], and my friends have seen them in Charing Cross and Oxford Street. It's unreal.

"I have been welcomed into a little family, and it's a lot of fun.

"It is a great opportunity. Having this on my CV will open doors."

The aspiring model, who is studying film, business studies and media, is also a DJ on Hot Asia Jamz online radio station, based in Springfield Road, Hayes.
